XXVIII International Roma Piano Competition - Behind the scene

The press conference, which will present the upcoming XXVIII "Roma" International Piano Competition will be held on the 5th of October on the Roman Capitol. The event which will take place with the participation of the Cuomo Foundation will be hosted by the renowned journalist Arturo Stalteri. Jury member of this year’s competition and internationally acclaimed musician, Arturo Stalteri is also a radio presenter.

Over the years, the "Roma" competition has become a valuable launchpad for young artists in the making while gaining fame as a highlight of Roman cultural life. Founded by Maestro Marcella Crudeli, the event is part of a vast program undertaken by the Associazione Culturale "Fryderyk Chopin" that the Italian Maestro has been chairing since 1987. Throughout the year, the association works with young pupils to promote classical music among a larger number, while approaching artistic expression as a means of civic education.

This contest, which the Cuomo Foundation has been supporting since 2004 as its main partner, remains a decisive step in the journey of young pianists who aspire to reach new heights in their practice. To date, this partnership has enabled hundreds of young musicians to gain international visibility and recognition, essential for any emerging artist to build a professional career.

This year, the Roma competition will be held from October 23 to November 4, 2018 at the Cloister of the Brotherhood of San Giovanni Battista dei Genovesi, Rome. The awards ceremony preceded by the winners’ concert is due on November 5 at the Teatro Quirino, located in the historic heart of the Eternal City.
