Tiébélé’s Youth Activities Embrace Culture and Sports

"Dizénidani Cup 2018" football tournament was held from April 7 to May 12, 2018. This annual event, involving both female and male teams, is sponsored by the Cuomo Foundation since 2014.

Organised in the historic village of Tiébélé, Burkina Faso, the Dizénidani Cup attempts to disseminate civic values among the youth through sports. Furthermore, the sporting event remains a great opportunity for the budding football players  hailing from this rural area, especially the girls, in search of recognition and exposure.

In parallel with the football event, educational and cultural activities are also carried out by Dizénidani Association during the months of spring. Among them are a holiday camp designed for young pupils from neighbouring villages and a painting and restoration campaign carried out high school girls. This cultural event aims at preserving and perpetuating the traditional "Dora" paintings—Kassena people’s century-old visual art which adorns each of their habitats, making them unique works of art…

As main sponsor of the association, the Foundation encourages this series of initiatives that embrace sport and culture while making a huge contribution to the individual and collective development of Tiébélé's youth.
